#MTOPstorytelling Bashar

I’ve learned to look at every problem from more than one perspective. That was a process of adaptation for me.

#mtopstorytelling tells the stories of our MTOP associates, who are highly skilled refugees mostly from Syria, Iran, Irak and Afghanistan.

Be inspired by our MTOP stories!

Mohammad Bashar Wattar

My name is Mohammad Bashar Wattar and I am from Syria. I completed my bachelor’s degree in computer science and I worked as a software developer in Syria for more than 8 years.

I was very actively looking for a job and yet I did not find anything in IT, so I looked for other sectors and worked as an administrative assistant for 10 months.

Time is running fast and never going back, so I enjoy my life and start again when something does not work. I go on and that is also my tip for everyone.

I tried to apply for an internships, part-time and full-time jobs in my field and only got rejections. After receiving more and more regectiones, I decided to focus on three things: learning German, studying new programming languages by myself and building a new network group.

Despair can affect us when we lose things, but life deserves adventure and optimism!

So I tried to visit language cafés on a regular basis to improve my communication language and meet new people. On the other hand, I applied for several mentoring programs to have more networking opportunities and get advice to improve my job opportunities.

You deserve a better life. Strive for it.

Then I heard about MTOP. MTOP supported me in finding my first job in Austria as a software developer. After one and a half months I had a job with an unlimited contract. Now I am very happy to work with a cooperative team and it is also a great opportunity to learn more about Austrian traditions and values!
